BUREAU  GRAVIMETRIQUE  INTERNATIONAL (BGI)

Director: Sylvain Bonvalot

The Bureau Gravimetrique International (BGI) is an International Service under the Federation of Astronomical and Geophysical Data Analysis Services (FAGS). BGI collects, compiles, validates and distributes gravity data of the Earth. Currently, the BGI data base contains 12 million observed gravity points (2 million over land and 10 million over the oceans). All data have been validated, and BGI has edited and distributed in 1996 two CD-roms containing all available open file gravity data. Updates of the relative and absolute gravity databases are in progress. BGI publishes jointly with the International Geoid Service (IGeS) the Newton's Bulletin once a year.
